Business Education Enterprise Program
(B.E.E.P.)
Connecting tomorrow's business leaders
B.E.E.P. was created in 2005 under the Chamber Foundation as a community outreach program to acquaint, educate, and stimulate excitement among high school and college students about the possibilities of careers in the business world.
Since then, it has evolved into an outreach arm to at-risk schools in North Las Vegas and surrounding areas providing resources to students and teachers through:
- Teacher mini-grants for classroom projects
- Mentors-provide mentors for students
- Speakers Bureau - provide speakers to classrooms
- Funding for school programs and projects
Lowman Elementary School Partnership
The Chamber and its Foundation adopted Lowman Elementary, an at-risk school in 2005 providing monetary and personal support to its students. Since then, several business members have established their own partnerships with the school holding on-going food and clothing drives, as well as being the recipient of corporate donations.
Through the Chamber Foundation, the Chamber created Lowman Boys & Girls Day in 2007 which is now an annual event. With over 100 volunteers participating, business persons interact with students throughout the day, teaming up to build arts & crafts projects, reading, and taking part in playground activities. Several mentoring partnerships have occurred through Boys & Girls Day.
Expansion of at-risk school partnerships
In 2008, the Foundation Board of Trustees voted to expand the at-risk school outreach to those schools currently without business partners.
